About Us

Sue Bream is all about Fitness through Personal Training, Pilates, and Scuba Diving

A little history………Sue Bream is an A.C.S.M. and A.C.E. certified personal trainer and Certified Pilates Instructor.  She has worked in the fitness industry since 1998 and has been teaching Pilates since 2007.  Sue learned to love fitness as a young adult (definitely not as a kid).

While attending University of Oregon in 1974, she saw Steve Prefontaine run his very last race the day before he was killed in a car crash.  Watching him run made a lasting impression on her.  After putting on the “freshman 30 lbs” she started running and never looked back!  While living in Jackson Hole, Montana, Sue became very active outdoors skiing, hiking, climbing, and bike riding.  Her first weight training class was at Kalispell Community College (in Kalispell, Montana) in the late 1970′s.   ”I can remember lifting weights and then going to my chemistry class afterwards with my arms just shaking so hard, I could barely hold a pencil!”

Needless to say, life in Montana for Sue was very active outdoors.  Sue received a Bachelor’s Degree in Geology from Montana State University and then a Master’s Degree in Geology from Western Washington University in 1986.

Her Geology career was short-lived when the kids arrived, so after staying home for a few years to raise the kids, she turned to Personal Training as a new career.  She was very fit and active, and loved to share this with others.  Running, weight training, yoga, inline skating, skiing….it all made sense.

Sue has been committed to fitness her whole adult life and has become the master of creating fitness programs to accomodate weight loss goals, basic health and fitness goals, menopause issues, injuries, pregnancies, and lack of motivation.

Sue began her personal training career at Seattle Athletic Club Downtown and after a couple of years there, started her own personal training business, “Fitness Choices”.  She also ran “Get Your Bearings Inline Skate School from 1997-2007.

In addition to teaching 100′s of adults and kids to skate, Sue taught advanced skills including inline speed skating, and conditioning workouts on skates.  She competed in both outdoor inline marathons as well as indoor short track.

She thrives on being physically active.  With a history of  running, inline skating, and walking in half and full marathons, Sue is enjoying getting back in touch with her running roots after spending the last several years as an inline speed skater and skate school owner.  She runs 2-3 half marathons a year, including the Seattle Half Marathon several times, the Phoenix Rock and Roll Half Marathon, Mercer Island Half Marathon, Kirkland Half, Bellingham Half, North Olympic Discovery Half and Tacoma Narrows Half.  In addition to teaching at least 4 Pilates classes a week, Sue likes to take classes from others.

She is also an avid Scuba Diver, and has created an 8 week program for dive fitness, “Fit4Diving”.  Scuba diving has opened up a whole new world of thrills and beauty for Sue, and she loves to help others prepare physically and mentally for diving.
She loves working with men and women ages 40 and up as well as working with pre-and post-natal women.  Sue teaches “Pilates for Moms” classes, which she began about 5 years ago.
Another special interest is working with cancer and exercise.  Sue taught an exercise class for about 5 years for Team Survivor at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance, called “Active Women/Healthy Women”.

Sue is rewarded enormously through her work with grant recipients from Plus One Foundation.  She works with clients who have suffered some sort of neurological disorder.  Sue works on balance, mobility, and strength with these clients.

As an independent USANA distributor and member of Team Northrup, Sue provides nutritional guidance  to clients who are seeking to “kick the sugar habit” as well as looking for high quality vitamin supplements and skin care.

Sue’s commitment to helping others weave fitness and healthy eating into their lifestyles obvious when you work with her.
